In Record a choir of young people sings on the threshold between private and public space - a ledge, a balcony, a window. It explores the rejection of social pressures by younger generations, transforming isolation into an act of protest and a reclaiming of identity. The project stems from a long exchange between Francesca Grilli and a hikikomori, a term describing individuals, particularly young people, who withdraw from the outside world. The performance narrates their attempt to escape societal constraints, turning isolation into a form of rebellion against the expectations and norms imposed by the dominant system, which tends to marginalize their voices.
