CLOSER - group show at Fondazione Raccolta Lercaro, Bologna (IT)  

Adiacenze presents the video-installation Record at the museum Raccolta Lercaro, as part of the CLOSER exhibition. The inauguration is scheduled for November 7, followed by a talk on December 5. 

CLOSER is a widespread contemporary art exhibition inspired by the figure of Guglielmo Marconi on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth. The event explores the nature of relationships today and the role of technology and networks in contemporary communication through existing works, new artistic productions, and workshop formats. The project, sponsored by the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation and supported by the Emilia-Romagna Region, runs from May 2024 to April 2025, involving partners in the Bologna area (Adiacenze, Padiglione Esprit Nouveau, MAMbo, Fondazione Lercaro), in Calderara di Reno (Casa della Cultura “Italo Calvino”), in Sasso Marconi (Guglielmo Marconi Foundation, Villa Davia, Spazio Relativo, Studio Yoshida), as well as international partners (NYSS Project Space, New York).

The video presented originates from the performance Record, which explores the hikikomori phenomenon - individuals, especially adolescents, who withdraw from society and primarily interact online.

In the performance, a choir of young people sings from symbolic positions such as ledges or windows, representing a boundary between intimacy and public space. The work reflects on the absence of contact as a form of rebellion, the difficulty of young generations in exposing themselves and the conflicting emotions of the present. But this issue of the new generations ultimately concerns all of us, as the challenges they face reflect broader societal tensions and transformations that impact the entire society.
